ANCIENT HISTORY AND HISTORY TEACHING: A CONTRIBUTION TO THE PRINCESS OF
MADEIRA PROJECT FROM DOM BOSCO SCHOOL IN HUMAITÁ
Teaching History; Antique; Amazon; Curriculum reference; Courseware.
The study had the general objective of analyzing Official Teaching documents, Ancient History and History Teaching from a decolonial perspective in comparison with teaching materials and projects developed by the Dom Bosco Municipal School in the city of Humaitá in the State of Amazonas. The Official Teaching Curriculum is a guide to be followed to carry out pedagogical actions in educational institutions, which is why it is important to research and study. We consider it to be of great relevance, as it is a topic that has already been debated in recent years, but which needs to be studied from a decolonial perspective. Based on this assumption, this research focused on the development of the Princesa do Madeira Project at that school. We will also use the textbook as one of the sources and establish its relationship with the Teaching of History, observing all the historical aspects contained in its content, the methodology, bibliographical references, theories, selected images and concepts used in the text about Ancient History. Based on this principle, we will then develop our work focusing on the theoretical discussion of “historical consciousness” by Jörn Rüsen proposed by Estevão Martins (2019) and Wilian Barom (2019), on the concept of “textbook” by Itamar Freitas (2019) and on the discussion historiography of Ancient History in Brazil proposed by Gilberto Francisco (2017) and Norberto Guarinello (2010), and finally, in the concept of Coloniality of power by Aníbal Quijano (2008). Our main question revolved around the issue of the possibility of thinking about an Ancient History of the Amazon or an Ancient History of Brazil based on the Princess of Madeira Project.
