SUMMARY:

The text presents a research proposal aimed at uncovering the social history of women who contributed to the construction and maintenance of the state of Rondonia, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the writing of this history. The research is driven by the following question: How has the historical trajectory of women in Rondonia taken shape, based on their roles, actions, and significant contributions through practices between the 1970s and 1990s? Although traces in history indicate that women were always present, they were relegated to the background, their contributions often limited to memory and excluded from the formal elucidation of the state’s history. This research is empirical in nature. Its first phase involves documentary research, which includes a study of theorists and literature on gender relations and the historical construction of the state of Rondonia. For data analysis, narratives will be collected, using Oral History methods. The presentation of results will be based on the argumentation techniques of the New Rhetoric by Perelman and Tyteca (2005). The results of interviews with pioneering women in Rondonia are presented and discussed in light of previous studies on the topic. The goal was to analyze these women’s narratives regarding their roles in the historical, social, and cultural development of the state. The interviews used biographical methods and were analyzed to identify key themes related to women’s contributions in the region. Selected dialogues represent the primary arguments extracted from the interviews. These narratives highlight the migration of these women to Rondonia in search of better opportunities, often accompanying their husbands. They faced challenges such as lack of infrastructure, precarious working conditions, and the need to balance domestic and professional responsibilities. Despite these adversities, the interviewees demonstrated resilience and creativity, adapting and contributing significantly to their communities. The experiences of these women underscore the importance of family relations and aspirations for a better life in their decision to migrate. The narratives of these pioneering women in Rondonia emphasize their resilience and contributions in health, education, and leadership. They overcame challenges and paved the way for future generations. Their stories enrich historical understanding and celebrate the diversity of experiences.
