This research was developed within the scope of the Professional Master's Program in Inclusive Education in the National Network (PROFEI), of the Federal University of Rondonia (UNIR), and is part of the Special Education Research Line from the Perspective of Inclusive Education. It raises a discussion about the literacy of students with autism spectrum disorder. Its general objective is to verify how the inclusion and literacy process of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder occurs in a municipal public school in Rolim de Moura, RO. The specific objectives are to understand the methodological proposal used to teach students to read and write and identify how students are included in the school environment. The methodology used is structured in a descriptive research with a qualitative approach, developed through bibliographic research in books, articles, theses, and dissertations, in works by authors and researchers who deal with inclusive education, such as: Almeida (2021); Bastos (2018); Stainback (2019); Bonfim (2021); Ribas (2017); Costa (2022); Mozetti (2022); Conzenza and Guerra (2011); Orru (2012), among others. Data collection instruments included semi-structured interviews with two regular classroom teachers, one Specialized Educational Assistance (SEA) teacher, and two caregivers. The investigation was conducted through documentary research in teachers' teaching plans and the workbooks of two first-grade elementary school students. At the end of this study, we intend to develop an educational product to contribute didactically and pedagogically to the work of teachers and others involved in the literacy of students with disabilities, especially those with autism spectrum disorder. Content analysis was used to analyze the data, enabling us to better understand the ideas of the actors within the school environment, as well as the relationship between the studied reality and the ideas of the theorists who provide the framework and integrate the research text.
