CONTINUING EDUCATION: AN ANALYSIS OF MATHEMATICAL EDUCATION CONCEPTIONS IN GESTAR II MATERIALS
Mathematics Education. Gestar II of Mathematics. Teacher training
This research investigated the teaching-learning process of Mathematics in the Teacher Training modality in one of its research lines called Continuing Education. For this, the School Learning Management program – Gestar II was used as an investigative field, based on the following guiding question: what are the conceptions of Mathematics Education that can be found in the continuing education model offered by the Gestar II Mathematics program? This program was instituted in 2004 and was intended for the continuing education of Portuguese Language or Mathematics teachers working in Elementary School II. Thus, the objective of this work was to research on the continuing education of teachers who teach Mathematics and more specifically about the materials of the Gestar II Mathematics program with a focus on Mathematics Education. Thus, it is guided by the methodology of Depth Hermeneutics (HP) of John B. Thompson (1995) and the conceptions of Mathematics Education in Brazilian and French research lines. In this, five chapters were prepared that address: methodology; historical aspects of the training of teachers who teach Mathematics; information about the Gestar II Mathematics program; continuing education in Mathematics and Gestar II; the National Curriculum Parameters – PCNs and the Gestar II; analysis of Gestar II materials based on the concepts of Mathematics Education; among other information. It focused on the didactic materials offered for the training of teachers who attended the Gestar II of Mathematics, as they were constituted at a time of reconfiguration of the continuing education proposals present in Brazil. In this sense, some considerations could be made on topics of studies in the area of Mathematics Education present in these materials and that constitute important resources for the teaching and learning process of Mathematics, such as: Didactic Transposition, Mathematical Modeling, Ethnomathematics and Problem Solving Mathematicians.
