RESUMO:

This work aimed to analyze and discuss the contributions of using Maple software in the teaching-learning of a university extension course in Differential and Integral Calculus through the Hybrid Teaching Flex format model. Hybrid Teaching is characterized by being a pedagogical approach that combines face-to-face activities and those performed in conjunction with Digital Information and Communication Technologies (TDICs) and is based on three fundamental pillars: engagement, personalization and student autonomy (BACICH et al , 2015). Therefore, the historical context of Calculus and the use of mathematical software in Mathematics Education were described, as well as the presentation of concepts and characteristics of Hybrid Teaching and research on this topic in Mathematics Education. The methodological option was based on a qualitative approach under the light of Engeström's (1999) and Human Beings with Media (BORBA and SOUTO, 2016) Activity Systems theory and the Case Study was the strategy adopted in this research. In this sense, a discussion constituted of the five principles of the Activity System Theory and the analysis regarding the execution of the synchronous classes of the course was carried out. In this analysis, the historical context of the period and the network of collective activities that affected the completion of the course were discussed; and also that the participants demonstrated to have knowledge in the use of TDICs, however, they had difficulties in accessing better equipment and difficulty in accessing quality internet; the tensions and contradictions that emerged and became a source of change during the synchronous encounters, in addition to the difficulties of some in making associations in the relationship between the algebraic and the algorithm; the multivocality in the resolution of practical exercises, that is, the finding of different points of view regarding the understanding of the approached content and the possibility of expansive transformations. In the end, it is expected that Hybrid Education and the adoption of TDICs during the pandemic can be part of the pedagogical routine after the post-pandemic scenario.
