THE AUTOBIOGRAPHIC NARRATIVES OF A TRANSLATOR AND INTERPRETER OF BRAZILIAN SIGN LANGUAGE (LIBRAS) AND INCLUSIVE MATHEMATICAL EDUCATION FOR DEAF STUDENTSInclusive Mathematics Education. Autobiographical narratives. Deafness.
This is a research with autobiographical narratives by the researcher herself, who also works as a Translator and Interpreter of the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) in Basic and Public Education since 2017. The theme of the work is related to Mathematics Education for people with deafness, that is, in the perspectives of Inclusive Mathematics Education. It has delimitation of the theme in an autobiographical research by the researcher about her teaching-learning process of Mathematics and professional performance in the care of deaf students. In order to contribute to other teaching-learning processes of Mathematics, for example, in the school context where there are deaf or hearing students. The objective was to understand the experiences of a Translator and Interpreter of the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) in the educational context, between 2017 and 2021. For this, it was necessary to remember the experiences through autobiographical narratives; to characterize the strategies used in the interpretations/translations in Libras; and to elaborate, considering the experience of the Libras interpreter trained in Mathematics, a set of strategies that a teacher can use in Mathematics classes with deaf students. The method of the researcher's autobiographical narratives (or the researcher's own autobiographical narratives) will be used as a way and tool to report on the professional performance as an Interpreter and Translator in Basic Education. Based on the analysis of the autobiographical narratives, the possibilities and challenges existing in the teaching-learning process of Mathematics were listed.
