SUMMARY:

The present research seeks to investigate the initial training of pedagogues in relation to mathematics in the Pedagogy course at the Federal University of Rondônia (UNIR), Ji-Paraná campus. This proposal aims to analyze what the official documents say about the training of pedagogues for teaching mathematics, the modifications that the Pedagogical Project of the Course has undergone regarding mathematics over the years, and the perception of students in the course regarding the training received to teach mathematics. The problematic that guided this research was: what is the mathematical training of students offered by the Pedagogy course at the Federal University of Rondônia, Ji-Paraná Campus? The methodological approaches used were qualitative research and field research, with data collected through documentary research, questionnaire administration, and semi-structured interviews. The results were treated, organized, and discussed by establishing categories of analysis. The main theoretical framework of the research was composed of authors who investigate the initial training of pedagogues for teaching mathematics. Fifteen students from the eighth and ninth periods participated in the research. Regarding the results, so far it has been possible to present in the text a brief profile of the research participants based on the data collected through the questionnaire. The interviews are still being transcribed for further analysis, and the analysis of the official documents and the Pedagogical Projects of the course are still in the process of structuring.
