STATISTICAL LITERACY IN THE TEXTBOOKS OF THE YEARS BEGINNINGS OF ELEMENTARY EDUCATION IN JI-PARANÁ - RONDÔNIA

When raising the idea of investigating the teaching of Statistics, it is noted that there are many questions that emerge in this field of research. In this sense, when considering as a guiding question for the research: How the didactics presented in textbooks and curriculum documents enables the knowledge, understanding and interpretation of statistical information, within the scope of the Mathematics discipline, in Basic Education of Teaching Fundamental, in Rondonian state school institutions? In order to find subsidies that make it possible to answer the research's guiding question, this master's thesis has the general objective: To analyze how statistics are presented in mathematics textbooks and curriculum documents, with regard to the initial years of Elementary Education in schools states in the municipality of Ji-Paraná/RO. The investigation is configured in the perspective of research with a qualitative approach, of the documental and bibliographical type. For this, we will analyze the proposals in the official documents referring to Statistics and the objects of knowledge proposed in the textbooks approved in the National Textbook Program (PNLD) and adopted by the school, with the intention of analyzing their proposal in order for the students to acquire statistical literacy. . The development of the research was organized in stages and consists of: describing the events that permeate statistical literacy in the context of the discipline of Mathematics, in the early years of Elementary School; Characterize how the teaching of statistics is foreseen in textbooks and curriculum documents regarding the teaching of mathematics in school institutions of the state education network in the municipality of Ji-Paraná; To identify the existence of a relationship between the objects of mathematical knowledge defined for the early years of Elementary School with regard to the teaching of statistics present in textbooks adopted by schools in the state education network in Rondônia, to the detriment of what is foreseen in the curricular documents. It is hoped that the present investigation will lead to the production of new knowledge on the subject under study, as well as to qualify information that focuses on the dissemination of the teaching of Statistics, especially in what concerns the teaching of mathematics in Basic Education in which Statistics is little explored, being often concentrated on teaching basic notions of descriptive statistics.
