SUMMARY:

Based on a reflection on the issue of the challenge of homosexuality in the Vila de Betania Indigenous Community, this work seeks to show the many moral information of the Ticuna people in relation to this problem. From this perspective, I present dialogues with the community's residents, who state that the community does not understand this practice, due to lack of knowledge and the enormous influence of the community's religion. The objective of this study is to show the theme of homosexuality based on the experience of some Ticuna and relate it to the environment, politics, religion, gender relations and culture. Thus, understanding these experiences within the community, we see that Ticuna homosexuals suffer prejudice, both within their own families and from the residents. In order to understand in what particular way homosexual relationships find a place in the Ticuna's daily life, the challenge of these experiences is approached by reading gender as a sociohistorical and contingent construction, a process marked by social transformations in this place.
