SUMMARY:

This dissertation investigates the cultural phenomenon of noiadance in Porto Velho (RO), analyzing it as a manifestation of electronic music that, although stigmatized by hegemonic discourse under the pejorative label “junkie music”, is re-signified by subjects from the urban periphery as a powerful marker of identity and (r)existence. Grounded in Foucauldian Discourse Analysis (Michel Foucault) and informed by Cultural Studies and Latin American mediation theory, in direct dialogue with Stuart Hall, Néstor García Canclini, and Jesús Martín-Barbero, the analysis examines how this genre operates as both a cultural practice and a discursive network. Through a netnographic mapping based on the work of Robert Kozinets, conducted in the comment section of the “Canal Remix” YouTube channel, the research investigates how the sonic and linguistic materiality of the scene articulates collective memory, territorialities, and identity. The dissertation seeks to understand the conditions of emergence, circulation, and persistence of these statements, proposing a methodological and analytical shift from the imposition of social stigma to the constitution of a technology of subjectivation. Finally, the study finds that noiadance is not limited to a musical subgenre but functions as a legitimate form of knowledge that validates and preserves the history of a segment of Porto Velho’s population, resisting the erasure imposed by official narratives of urban and regional development.
