SUMMARY:

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by a wide range of cognitive, sensory, and behavioral features. The growing social mobilization and the advancement of discussions on neurodiversity highlight the need to reconsider the structures of civic participation, particularly with regard to autistic individuals. While the right to vote and to participate in political life is constitutionally guaranteed, in practice, individuals with ASD often face barriers that hinder or prevent the full exercise of this right. The electoral register, as a national database of eligible voters, holds the potential to support the development of inclusive public policies by providing relevant demographic information. This study aims to examine how the political rights of individuals with autism are being upheld within the electoral process, with the goal of enhancing the effectiveness of these rights and generating data to support the development of inclusive and cross-sectoral public policies. The main objective is to assess whether the political rights of people with autism are being guaranteed within the scope of the Electoral Justice system and to propose inclusive service measures adapted to their needs. The methodological approach is qualitative and descriptive, employing bibliographic and documentary research techniques. As a fundamental institution of democracy, the Electoral Justice system is tasked with delivering justice and ensuring equal participation in the selection of political representatives. However, current voter registration procedures classify individuals with autism under a broad category of "other disabilities," making it impossible to quantify this specific population. This lack of disaggregated data complicates the development of targeted public policies and conceals critical information necessary for promoting the civic inclusion of autistic individuals. The findings highlight the importance of implementing inclusive, cross-sectoral public policies aimed at improving services and ensuring the political rights of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
