Small Hydroelectric Plants - SHPs contribute to Brazil's energy and social development. In addition, SHPs can meet the current difficulties of Hydroelectric Plants - UHEs, reducing: losses from transmission and distribution and delays in licensing / construction. Much of the hydraulic potential to be harnessed is found in the North region, bringing a series of economic, social and environmental challenges. To reduce new socio-environmental impacts from hydroelectric projects and still meet the growing demand for electricity, the repowering process can be highlighted, which seeks to optimize the installed power of a project through the use of technological innovations or identification of gaps in the initial project. The objective of the research is to carry out the technical and economic evaluation of the Repowering of Small Hydroelectric Plants and apply them in the case study carried out at CGH Martinuv, located in the city of Vilhena-RO, to verify its viability, possible intervention and contribution modalities in the promoting sustainable regional development.
