ANALISE DA SUSTENTABILIDADE DA REGIAO NORTE DO BRASIL POR MEIO DE UMA CESTA DE INDICADORES
Analisys of sustentability in the North Region of Brasil using a basket of indicators
Sustainable Development. Sustainability Indicators. IDSRP.
Sustainability has been a topic of discussion among experts, social actors and public managers for a long time. This research had as its starting point the methodology developed by Vasconcelos and Souza (2010) that constructed the Participatory Municipal Sustainable Development Index (IDSMP), which in this case calculates the Sustainable Development Index - IDSE - for the North region of Brazil, with the innovation of being able to use it to compare the results of the states and thus offer the possibility of proposing specific improvements, through the analysis of the indicators, to the State of Rondonia. This is a quantitative and explanatory study. The methodology used in the thesis is based on data from 36 sustainability indicators, from all states of the country, in the periods from 2010 to 2022, of which 4 deal with the cultural dimension, 12 with the social dimension, 03 with the demographic dimension, 03 deal with the political institutional dimension, 09 deal with the environmental dimension and 05 with the economic dimension. The index is between 0 and 1, with the lowest level of sustainability being at 0 and the highest at 1; This procedure was performed for later comparison between the indexes. The method uses 2 mathematical formulas to determine, within each dimension, the level of sustainable development of the region. Given this, the dimensions can be calculated for the state and subsequently for the regions. The results were for 2010 and 2022 respectively: Rondonia - 0.57 and 0.61, Acre - 0.54 and 0.55, Amapa - 0.57 and 0.60, Amazonas - 0.55 and 0.56, Para - 0.41 and 0.48, Roraima with 0.61 and 0.54, Tocantins with 0.57 and 0.65. As a result, the IDSE of the Northern Region in 2010 and 2022 was 0.55 and 0.57. With the exception of Roraima, all states had growth in the index, and the same was true for the region's index. Regarding the research hypothesis, it was confirmed that the use of the IDSE tool allowed the aggregation of several sustainability indicators, within their respective dimensions, generating subsidies for an analysis based on data collected and calculated based on the adopted tool, generating as a result a mapping of the indicators of the states and the Northern region.
