SUMMARY:

The most researched air pollutants include total suspended particles (PTS), MP10 m, and MP 2.5 m, which are found in the widest variety of places where people live. Given that this pollutant has negative health impacts when breathed, public officials and the scientific community need to pay more attention to monitoring it in metropolitan areas. Monitoring is crucial in this regard for enhancing public environmental policy. The expense of air pollution detection equipment is a drawback for monitoring cities. This study proposes to use RS-385 micro pumps, inexpensive equipment that is efficient at capturing particulate matter, which can be studied, to monitor particulate matter and characterize chemical constituents in the urban area of the municipality of Porto Velho, RS-385 small pumps, low-cost equipment that captures particulate matter that may be studied in the laboratory using X-ray fluorescence technology. The gravimetric data show that the equipment was able to catch 416.67 g.m3 of particulate particles, average of point 1 in February, in a 24-hour period, the highest value in the research. The qualitative findings of the particulate matter examination revealed the presence of 24 chemical elements, with sulfur being the most abundant and cesium, tin, antimony, and ruthenium being the least prevalent. There were 16 chemical elements discovered in the qualitative data, with silicon having the greatest percentage value of 48.68% and vanadium having the lowest percentage value of 0.005%. Among the points that had the highest amount of chemical elements detected in the quantitative results point 3, with 13 elements, the points with the lowest values point 1 and 4, with 10 elements each.
