SUMMARY:

The use of biomass is one of the renewable energy alternatives in Brazil. Brazil currently has 82.9% of its energy matrix coming from renewable sources. The participation is led by hydroelectric (61.9%), wind (11.8%), biomass (4.7%) and solar (4.4%) followed by the other non-renewables. The practice of using fossil fuels has been changing and bringing catastrophic consequences to our planet. The burning of these fuels generates gases such as CO2, SOx and NOx, which are harmful, whereas biomass is a renewable and clean fuel. Biogas is considered a renewable source of energy and is generated from organic waste of animal, vegetable or industrial origin through anaerobic digestion. The search for alternatives to its use offers a possibility of adding value to this gas, which allows the use of biomass to obtain a noble product, such as hydrogen, avoiding the release of Methane into the atmosphere, which is much more harmful than CO2, with catastrophic consequences that contribute to global warming. Therefore, this work evaluates the synthesis method and its influence on the preparation of catalysts for the partial oxidation process of methane, which provides H2 as one of the products. In the production of gas, it is necessary to use catalysts, the most used of which are Ni/Al2O3, where its activity and main factors that influence its deactivation will be tested. Evaluating its characteristics through analytical methods such as: X-ray diffraction, N2 Physisorption, Metallic Content among other methods applied to the characterization of the catalyst.
