CONTRIBUTION OF BIOLOGICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND COGNITIVE VARIABLES IN THE CASES OF OBESITY BETWEEN SCHOOLS FROM 7 TO 12 YEARS IN CACOAL CITY (RONDÔNIA)

Introduction: When we talk about obesity, in a general way, it is not difficult to recognize it, nor is it overweight, but when it is diagnosed, it needs methodological care to identify the risks that this disease can bring to the population. Obesity is defined by the World Health Organization as ‘Disease in which excess body fat has accumulated to such an extent that health can be affected’, this demonstrates the concern of this entity with the possible consequences of the accumulation of adipose tissue in the body. Epidemiological studies conducted in the 1990s show that obesity, besides being considered a disease, is an important risk factor for the onset of other diseases such as diabetes mellitus type II, hypertension, dyslipidemias, myocardial infarction and stroke. In the last decade, this trend is still observed, that is, obesity is still a risk factor for dyslipidemic diseases). Objective: The objectives of this study were to evaluate and describe the prevalence of obesity and overweight among schoolchildren aged 7 to 12 years old from municipal schools in Cacoal (Rondônia) and to analyze the relationship between nutritional classification in biological, psychological and cognitive variables. Methods: The sample consisted of 482 schoolchildren aged 7 to 12 years of age, of both sexes, of which 111 were urban and 371 were rural. BMI values, abdominal circumference measurements, biological maturation, body image, stress and school performance were collected. The collected data were tabulated in the program Microsoft Excel 2010 and later carried out the statistics in the program SPSS 20.0 using a descriptive statistic where average, standard deviation and percentage were calculated, and to compare the means of the groups, a two factor analysis of variance (ANOVA) Two-way, and apply the t-student tests. A post-hoc SCHEFFÉ test was used to detect possible differences in age, and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to quantify the degree of normality of the sample. Pearson's correlation test was used to correlate the variables, where a significance level of p <0.05 was used. Results: The prevalence of normal, overweight and obesity was 69%, 19% and 12%, respectively, in males, and 77%, 10% and 13%, respectively. women. The BMI of normal, overweight and obese children was 76.8%, 14.5% and 8.7%, for males and normal, 81%, 14% overweight and 5% obese. the female sex. On the other hand, the variable abdominal circumference of male schoolchildren in the urban area was classified as risk-free 53.9%, with a risk limit of 40.4% and above the limit of 5.7%, and female from the same location 57.6% without risk, 32.2% in the risk limit and 10.2% above the risk limit. In the rural area, 65.9% of the male sex presented a risk limit of 29.6% and 4.6% of the risk limit, and 68.2% of the female sex classified as risk-free, 26.3% limit of risk and 5.5% as above the risk limit. Conclusion: When analyzing body composition through BMI, and cardiac risk, it can be verified that there was no significant difference in the variables that indicate a tendency to overweight and obesity. In the variable that indicates cardiac risk there was a difference in the male and female groups, with an emphasis on increase in school children in the rural area.
