SUMMARY:

In recent years, with population growth, the increasing use of agricultural machinery and the expansion of rural properties for the production of chickens and eggs, for example, the demand for electricity in agribusiness has increased, especially from fossil or non-renewable fuels. Consequently, socio-environmental problems related to the generation of fuels and electricity from fossil sources have emerged. Much research is being improved regarding the production of clean and renewable energy. That said, the research aimed to build a prototype for microgeneration of electricity, using solar and biogas sources. It is a hybrid system, composed of a small-scale biodigester for the production of biogas, solar panels and the use of substrates from laying hens. The research presents an experimental study with a quantitative approach of an exploratory nature. Divided into six main stages, the study involves the construction of the pilot and 500L biodigesters, the biogas combustion test, the construction of the metal cabinet and the coupling of the 1,200Wp solar system, the operation and monitoring of the load controllers, and the economic analysis, based on the observation and quantification of the production of biogas, biofertilizer, solar energy and battery bank. As a result, regarding the first construction cycle of the 100L pilot biodigester, the research presented satisfactory responses regarding the generation of biofertilizer (20kg of substrates) and, mainly, biogas, producing 100% of the maximum capacity of the air chamber, with a combustion duration of 10.5h for a volume of 1.5m³ of biogas. Likewise, with the prototype completed, the economic and financial analysis showed a return on investment of approximately 4 years and 4 months, considering an initial investment of R$ 12,567.94, including the use of four solar panels and a 500L biodigestion system that produced 7.5m³ of biogas. In addition, after technical improvements, the prototype was able to maintain the operation of 874W/day, with peaks of 2,510W/day, in limited periods, in a linear manner, together with the solar system and battery bank. Therefore, the decentralized hybrid system developed in the thesis strengthens the debate on methodological and operational advances in electricity generation and contributes scientifically to new studies on Sustainable Development in Brazil.
