SUMMARY:

This study aims to provide a preliminary characterization of the archaeological Terra Preta from the core sample of the Garbin Site in Porto Velho, Rondonia. This archaeological site no longer exists due to the construction of the Santo Antonio Hydroelectric Plant, and the extracted archaeological materials are currently under the custody of the Federal University of Rondonia. Grain size, chemical, and XRD (X-ray diffraction) analyses were conducted, along with an examination of excavation processes and recovered archaeological materials. Based on the analytical results combined with dating, it is possible to hypothesize that the formation of this archaeological site resulted from a combination of anthropogenic activities and climatic variations.
