SUMMARY:

This research proposal will deal with “housing policies and socio-spatial segregation” analyzed in the Castanheira residential complex and in the surroundings of the Colônia Ventura neighborhood. The general objective of the future work is to analyze the urbanization process of the Colônia Ventura neighborhood in the city of Tefé-AM. The time frame and analysis of this research is based between 1991-2022, which comprises the period in which the process of occupation and urban expansion of the Colonia Ventura neighborhood took place. The method used will be historical and dialectical materialism, since epistemological bases of geographic knowledge and human sciences will be used that will help to obtain answers with scientific rigor at the end of the research. Authors such as Trindade Jr (2006), Queiroz (2015), Schor (2007; 2020), Oliveira (2000; 2004; 2018), Corrêa (1987), Porto-Gonçalves (2008), Becker (1991; 2000), Lima (2008) among other classics of human geography in the Amazon that were concerned with studying the organization of regional space from the emergence and growth of cities in the region. Urban space, city, housing policies and socio-spatial segregation will be some concepts worked on during the development of the research and dissertation. As a result of the research, the dissertation will have three chapters, namely: The City and the Urban in the Amazon. Contextualization of Housing Policies in Brazil. Socio-spatial Segregation as a Consequence of the Process of Irregular Occupation of Houses. The chapters will support the interpreted analysis of the research based on bibliographical data and field practice, the latter being a preponderant element in the investigative analysis of the facts that guided and still guide the urban context of the Colônia neighborhood. The study can show that segregation is not the result of the occupation process or the ethnic identity characterization, but of public urban development policies that once again failed, as well as other projects, and that promotes more and more social injustice that ends up affecting the less favored classes of the Amazon.
