SUMMARY:

Through art, artists talk about the context and space in which they live, and with this in mind, this research seeks to highlight and investigate the impacts of space on the poetics and narratives addressed by women artists in their forms of expression, emphasizing the relationships experienced through gender in space. Through the concept of space addressed in the research, it becomes relevant to understand how art and geography are intertwined, being a complex means of reading space. Space is as described by Doreen Massey, who approaches it from a social and contemporary perspective, being a surface of trajectories and possibilities. Through this understanding, we move on to understandings that we can have of space, including as a source of inspiration for artists. This method is important and necessary because it is from the artists' experiences and interactions in space that inspiration arises for the production of artistic poetics in various languages. The phenomenological method is accompanied by Bachelard's reflections, when he talks about the phenomenology of the imagination. We approach research using this method because it provides a poetic and imaginative reading of space, giving importance to the feedback relationships between subject and space. Based on the phenomenology of the imagination, the author talks about poetry as a direct product of the soul, of the heart.

Thus, the phenomenological method becomes a mediator between understanding the body's relationships in space, where we can imagine various artistic possibilities that arise from these interactions. The context of the experience in space through gender is one of the determinants that we consider in this research, since gender determines how the being will experience space, we trace gender as a determining factor in the research because it is a powerful factor in the poetics of the artists. With this in mind, five artists were chosen to build the artistic analysis of the research, each in their own artistic language, which demonstrates that the geographical spatial factor is found in various artistic forms and formats, and can be linked to art in its various forms of existence, which makes the links between these two areas greater, but which also demonstrates a limit for this research, where we make a cut of this scenario. We have observed the great geographical contributions to art, with space, gender and the region in which the artists live being determining factors for their poetics and artistic inspirations. Therefore, researching art from the north is relevant to getting to know and understand the space.
