RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HEAT ISLANDS AND HUMAN THERMAL COMFORT IN PORTO VELHO AND JI-PARANA, RONDONIA
Urban Heat Islands, Thermal Comfort, Local Climate Zones.
This study analyzes Urban Heat Islands (UHIs) and thermal comfort in Porto Velho and Ji-Parana, medium-sized expanding Amazonian cities in the state of Rondonia. It employs Local Climate Zone (LCZ) mapping, remote sensing (land surface temperature, NDVI), meteorological data collection, and socio-environmental questionnaires. Partial results indicate a predominance of LCZ 3 (compact low-rise) and LCZ 6 (open low-rise), reduced vegetation during the dry season, and seasonal thermal variation, aiming to inform sustainable urban policies.
