The research aims to understand the lived space of the riverside communities of Ponta de Pedra do Araguaia, Prainha and Apinages in the municipality of Sao Joao do Araguaia in southeastern Para in the period between 1970 and 2024; and how the riverside communities territorialize themselves in the space by constructing survival strategies to continue maintaining their “place” as traditional Amazonian peoples in the face of capitalist expansion. The method to achieve the research objectives is phenomenology together with the techniques: bibliographic research, documentary research, interview script and observation, forming the research path. Research method, procedures and techniques in line with the concepts of place, territory and riverside community are responsible for the construction of the thesis.
