USE OF SMARTPHONE FOR TEACHING PHYSICS IN HIGH SCHOOL

The present work deals experiments in the area of kinematics and mechanics using a Smartphone as a measuring instrument. Each experiment was designed, set up and verified for its repeatability and reliability. After these necessary steps, the scripts were prepared whose collection constitutes the Educational Product. Specifically, experiments of Uniformly Varied Rectilinear Motion of an object moving on an inclined plane or an object that is in free fall, dynamics of bodies using Newton's laws, centripetal acceleration of a particle that performs uniform circular motion, Pendulum Simple, Elastic Collisions and Totally Inelastic Collisions. In general, the use of a smartphone as a measurement instrument makes data acquisition experiments more accessible to students, teachers and academia. Thus, physics experiments using a smartphone promote direct student participation, observation and immediate application of physical concepts. Subsequently, some experiments were used in a school classroom and informal and semi-formal assessment was applied as a way of evaluating the student's progress in their experimental activities. The results are promising when experiments are applied together using new technologies and new forms of assessment in student learning.
