In the 1960s, the Short Degrees were created in order to meet the need for legal training of unqualified teachers who were already teaching in primary education, in order to meet the urgent demand for qualified manpower for education. This formation took place on a large scale in the shortest possible time. In this vein, the private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) were the ones that most offered these courses, and in 1990 the Faculdades Integradas de Ariquemes (FIAR) became one of them, offering the Short Degree courses in Pedagogy and Sciences. , until the year 2000. In this sense, the work in question has as its guiding question: How was the implementation and functioning of this Short Degree in Sciences at Faculdades Integradas de Ariquemes (FIAR)? To answer this question, the research has the following general objective: to elaborate a historical interpretation about the short degree in Sciences in the city of Ariquemes-RO in the 1990s. To achieve this objective, our sources will be the educational documents collected in the archives of the FIAR, as well as the personal files of former students and the legislation of the time. As theoretical-methodological tools, we will use data triangulation by Sandra Mathison (1988), the evidential paradigm of Carlo Ginzburg (1989), and the critique of the document by Marc Bloch (2001). As a final result, we observed that the Short Degree in Sciences at FIAR did not have a specific qualification, for example, Short Degree in Sciences with qualification in (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Biology), thus, the student at FIAR would act more from fifth to eighth grade of 1st grade. In addition, the curriculum of this course, there was a high appreciation of specific knowledge in the exact area, corresponding to more than 60% of the course workload, and this course trained approximately around 350 Short Degree teachers for the region surrounding Ariquemes (Jamari Valley).
