SUMMARY:

Knowing what makes Science closer to students has been a great challenge. It is necessary for students to understand that Science is part of their daily lives, however, we seek to understand the contribution of teachers in the formation of this understanding. Since this attribution of the teacher will be carried out depending on the conception that he carries about Science. Thus, the question that guided this study was the following: what conceptions about the teaching of Natural Sciences guide the practices of teachers in the final years, of Elementary School, of the state network, in the municipality of Vilhena, Rondônia (RO)? The research is located in the area of teaching Natural Sciences, with an emphasis on practices and continuing education of Teachers of Natural Sciences, having as theoretical contributions, mainly, the evidential paradigm of Carlo Ginzburg, the continuing education of Teachers of Natural Sciences discussed by Krasilchik and Carvalho and Gil-Pérez. In order to answer our main question, we used the Pedagogical Political Planning (PPP) of the eight schools that participated in the research; the annual plans and class diaries, provided by the study's collaborating professors; and a semi-structured interview, with a previously prepared script, carried out with eleven teachers from schools that offer elementary education II, in the state public network of Vilhena-RO. We found that most teachers who teach Natural Sciences do not have this training and that when they receive continuing education, this is not their area of expertise. That teachers tend to seek their own alternatives for differentiated teaching and try to develop the contents of the discipline considering the reality of their students. Teachers reported making use of the textbook and following the recommendations of the BNCC. We also found out that educators have difficulties in working on topics that are distant from their initial training and facilities with themes focused on this; planning requires more time from teachers than the five hours provided by SEDUC for this activity, and so teachers make use of leisure time to plan their classes. We ended up understanding that the conditions provided for the teaching of the Natural Sciences curricular component intervene for the formation of conceptions about Science and direct the practices of teachers of the final years of Elementary School of the state network in the municipality of Vilhena, acting in the teaching-learning process.
